Warren Elementary - Educational Assistant II- 2024-25 School Year
Position requirements:
Previous experience with students with special needs including Autism, ADHD, and emotional support needs. Highly Qualified Para-Professional status required. Successful candidates will be required to submit to and pass a background check and fingerprint screening.
Position responsibilities include:
- Assist in direct instruction for a classroom of moderately, severely, and/or multiple handicapped students as directed by professional staff. Implement related service activities designed for students under the direction of related service staff assigned to the classroom.
- Assists in monitoring classroom management, which may include the physical restraint, physical movement, lifting, and carrying of students
- Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for meeting student needs, IEP’s and program expectations
- Prepare materials prescribed by a licensed teacher, IEP requirements, or lesson plan
- Implement behavioral intervention plans and protocols that may include physical restraint (Safety Care training would be provided to new hires)
- Provide for the identified physical needs of students such as toileting, feeding, therapy, transporting, and other related needs
- Implement Nursing protocols under the supervision of a Registered Nurse which may include G-Tube feeding, suction, tracheotomy care, and catheterization

Salary: $19.58-21.09*
Initial salary placement is at Step 1. After the probationary period, upon verification of previous experience relevant to the classification posted (new employee to the district only), placement may be increased up to Step 4.
Calendar: 6.5 hours per day, student days only. The position is benefits-eligible.
Highly Qualified Status: Educational assistants must be highly qualified since they serve in reading or special education programs. Our 6.5-hour-per-day Educational Assistant II's work with special education students but may also have some limited supervisory duties.
To meet the federal highly qualified requirements, candidates must have an Associate's degree or higher, or have at least two years of college, or pass the paraprofessional assessment (parapro test) within the probationary period. The parapro test is offered monthly by the district and is a test in three subjects, reading, writing, and mathematics.
